Spring Break March 2026 – Regional Directed Activities

There will be some Regional Directed Activities (RDA) over the course of Spring Break March 2026. 

January 17, 2026

Announcements – Thursday, Jan 15, 2026

– Range is cancelled on Tuesday, Jan 20, in lieu of Warrant Officer Boards.

– Flag Party practice Monday, Jan 19, from 1830hrs – 2000hrs.

– Warrant Officer Boards will begin at 1800hrs sharp! WO Board candidates must make sure they show up 15 mins prior to their scheduled appointment time. You will be waiting in one of the classrooms till you are brought in for your interview. Make sure to bring all documentation that was requested with you. Good luck!

– Groundschool Exams for Glider and Power applicants will take place on Monday, Feb 02, at 1900hrs sharp. Late comers will not be allowed to write the exam. Make sure you are early to arrive.

– We are having a Mess Dinner on Saturday, Mar 07. We need everyone to submit their choice for the meal that they want, regular or vegetarian, NO LATER THAN Thursday, Feb 12 to Capt Yakiwchuk through our Squadron email: 521aurorarcacs@gmail.com stating your Rank, Full Name, and meal selection. See past post for menu choice.

– Dress for next Thursday's parade will be civies.

– Summer Staff Cadet applications are now closed. Cadet Summer Training applications are now being accepted till Feb 20. See past post for Summer Courses. When you have decided on your top 3 courses, send an email to Capt Yakiwchuk through our Squadron email: 521aurorarcacs@gmail.com stating you Rank, Full Name, and your top 3 choices for Summer Training Courses.

PARENTS: We seek your help and support with the upcoming Mess Dinner. We need 12 Parents to help with set-up, serving, and clean up. All volunteers will be fed. We may need a truck to move tables. If you can help out, please contact Capt Yakiwchuk through the Squadron email. We appreciate all help.

Mess Dinner – Mar 07, 2026 – Menu

Good day everyone. 521 will be holding a Mess Dinner on Saturday, Mar 07. We need everyone to make a selection whether you would like meat or vegetarian choice for your meal. The meal will be:

Salad: Caesar Salad with Romaine Lettuce, Crutons, and Caesar Salad Dressing

Soup: Corn Chowder

Entree: Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Gravy, Horseradish, Whipped Mashed Potatoes, and Glazed Carrots or Vegetarian: Cheese Cannelloni with Whipped Mashed Potatoes, and Glazed Carrots. You can only choose 1 entree.

Dessert: Chocolate Mousse Parfait

All choices have to be emailed to: 521aurorarcacs@gmail.com by NO LATER THAN Thursday, February 12, stating your RANK, FULL NAME, and if you wish a Regular or Vegitarian meal.

Welcome back everyone! Announcements for Thursday, Jan 08, 2026:

– Flag Party practice: Monday, Jan 12 2026 at 6:30pm – 8pm.

– Applications for Summer Staff Cadet positions must be into Capt Yakiwchuk by Jan 15 2026 via an email.

– Applications for Cadet Summer Training are open and being accepted. See past post for details.

– Warrant Officer Boards happening of Tuesday, Jan 20 2026. Applicants, make sure you come prepared and be 15 minutes early for your appointment.

– Groundschool exams will take place on Feb 02 2026 at 1900hrs sharp! Make sure you are there early. Do not be late!

Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone! Hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The Squadron officially resumes operations on Jan 05, 2026 and our first parade night of 2026 will be Thursday, Jan 08, 2026 for 1800hrs (6pm).

A few announcements: Range will commence practices on Tuesday, Jan 06, 2026 at 6pm.

Flag party pratice will commence on Monday, Jan 05, 2026 from 6:30pm – 8pm at the Cadet Hall.

Applications for Summer Staff Cadet will close Jan 15, 2026. Make sure to send an email to Capt Yakiwchuk at 521aurorarcacs@gmail.com , stating your top 3 choices for the CTC you wish to work at (HMCS Quadra, Whitehorse, Vernon, and Rocky Mountain House) and the top 5 positions you would like to be selected for (see previous post for positions available). Late applications will not be accepted.

Applications for Summer Training are now open. See below for courses available. Applications will be open till Feb 20, 2026. Again, if you are interested in applying for a Summer Course, you need to send an email to Capt Yakiwchuk to 521aurorarcacs@gmail.com stating your top 3 courses you wish to apply for. Make sure you put your rank and name, along with the courses, and that you wish to apply for the courses in the email. Warrent Officer boards will take place on Jan 20, 2026. This is open to FSgt's and higher. An email must be sent to Capt Yakiwchuk, stating that you wish to attend or not attend. A specific time slot will appointed to all applicants once all replies have been received. 

Applicants for the Online Ground School program will be doing their exam on Monday Feb 02, 2026 at 1900hrs, at the Cadet Hall. An email needs to be sent to Capt Yakiwchuk, stating that you will or will not be taking the exam.
